"The last time I went to Bulgaria I stayed with Rachel Gawith in her villa near Stara Zagora. Rachel and her team are going to do some construction work for me and it was time efficient to be staying in the same house with her, though in our own lovely self-contained flat.

The villa is well renovated and has its own bathroom and kitchenette attached to a sitting dining room which has an open fire in it. There is a veranda running the length of the house so one can have coffee or drinks there and view the countryside. It is quiet and peaceful. I didn’t want to leave. I highly recommend it. "

On our third visit to Bulgaria, we decided to stay with Rachel, in one of her rental properties. We rented the apartment, which was above where she was currently living, although Rachel has now moved into her long awaited new property.

This is a lovely apartment, very clean and spacious. It was June 2007 when we visited, and it was perfect for hot quiet nights sat on the terrace with Rachel enjoying a barbeque and a few drinks as we discussed the days’ events and all our plans and aims.  There is also a large veranda on the above apartment, which is ideal for sitting out and enjoying the peaceful views as you have your breakfast ‘al fresco’ if desired. The apartment is as described on the website, with a large living area with dining table, sofa bed and a fireplace and kitchen area. The bedroom is also large with an en-suite/wet room. Both rooms are tastefully decorated and cosy enough to have everything you need. This is a lovely large house which Rachel has had renovated into two separate apartments with a large garden and terrace.

We had a great time there and would recommend it to anyone who wants a nice peaceful getaway.

I recently had the pleasure of staying in one of Rachels' apartments at Rakitnitca. The accommodation comprised a good sized bedroom with en-suit bathroom and a kitchen/living room. The apartment had been renovated to a good standard which made for a very comfortable stay. The surroundings were quiet and views of the local country side could be enjoyed from the veranda. Rakitnitica is just off the main road leading to Stara Zagora, so is ideal for someone looking to enjoy a stay in a rural environment, but also wanting access to all the amenities that the city has to offer.
